Date: July 25th-29th
Time:Monday through Friday, 10am to 3pm,
Location: At the Britton house: 9468 Rust Lane, Bryan, TX, 77808 (Robertson Co.)
Bring: a lunch. Lemonade and water provided. Also bring your sewing machine, power cord, manual, accessory box and sewing box, if you have them. I have several but it is better to learn your machine and your tools.
Enrollment requirements: Adults and 11 years old and up who are able to follow safety rules Parents should be confident that child is able to use burning hot and/or razor sharp tools safely. Child should have a strong desire to continue learning to sew.
Cost: $130/ week.
Supplies needed: Bring approximately 3 yard of skirt fabric, exact amount will be based on size and length. Ask before you buy. Matching thread.
Bring: your lunch, your machine and everything associated with it, including manual (cords, tool box, bobbins, presser feet, needles, thread), sewing box & tools (if you have any) We will need a extra iron or two. Each person will need her own shears, pins. I have several and one lefty.
We will make a girls sized dropped-waist gathered riding skirt. An example skirt can be seen on the patterns page

For sewing we will start with machine safety and operation, then do several small straight line projects that can be finished in the time frame each day while practicing basic skills. We will bake something different each day as a break time activity. One day will be stove top candy instead of baking.

My other sewing classes meet at my home near Hearne. These classes are offered in town by request for your convenience.There are hundreds of topics we could cover. Tell me what you would like to learn the most or how you need help. We can learn techniques and put the samples in a notebook for reference or you can make a project that has the techniques you want to learn. If you have made things in the past that didn't quite turn out the way you wanted, bring them and we will discuss what went wrong and ways to improve. **** I can only teach what I know, but I'm always learning and I love a challenge.
We will have fun and be creative. We start with machine safety and move into set-up and practice. We can make and decorative small objects like pouches, purses, and pillows using lace, trim, buttons, felt and applique. Mom and child will share their machine unless they bring two. Moms will be learning and sewing too! Moms are required to watch over their child when the child is using the machine. I can't do this for multiple children safely. This class is meant to encourage you and your child to sew together at home for a lifetime.
